History
The Waihi Beach Community Centre came into existence because of the vision of a small group. Funds in the hundreds of thousands were raised by the community with one trust member putting their farm up as collateral. This dedication saw the hall built within three years.
The Hall Trust is, and always has, been run by a team of volunteers. The first committee had most of the original fund raisers on it and they all served until they were well into their 80’s and some into their 90’s.
It’s not an easy task to keep the Community Centre well maintained, but we strive to ensure it is kept up-to-date and well looked after. The Community Centre is the only one in the Western Bay Ward not to be funded from rates, a point that we are particularly proud of.
